The video cassette describes what a lathe operator has to do to perform boring operations on the lathe, these being operations which make it possible to generate internal, cylindrical surfaces with an excellent surface finish and high degree of dimensional accuracy.
After presenting the two tools most commonly used in lathe boring operations, as well as the feed movements and workpiece clamping systems, the film shows the boring of through holes and blind holes on two different workpiece.
The practical execution of these operations is preceded by an animation illustrating the machining operations which progressively transforms the contour of a hole drilled with a twist drill into a hole matching up to the geometry, dimensions and surface finish specified in the drawing.
The program concludes with a summary of the most significant machining operations filmed.
