The video cassette presents the basic threading operation on the lathe.
After defining this type of machining and stressing its importance as a temporary
means of connecting components, the unit presents the tool used, their characteristics
and the work movements which must be imparted to the tools in order to cut the
spiral grooves of the threads.
After this introductory section, the unit gets to grips with the subject by presenting
the execution of the external and internal threading of two workpieces which are
to be coupled one to the other.
The film devotes particular attention to the preliminary operations of setting
the gears, selecting the levers, locking the lead nut on the lead screw, and clamping
and positioning the threading tool.
During the machining operation, the film focuses particularly on the need for
the operator to have perfect coordination of the hands and eyes.
In the manual execution of threading operations, in fact, the results are almost
invariably related to the operator's skill and the speed of his reflexes.
The audiovisual unit concludes with a summary of the most important operations.
