The video cassette presents the basic operations performed on the lathe for
the execution of grooves, chamfers, fillets and knurls.
The aims of each of these operations are defined at the outset in relation to
the functions of the mechanical components produced, and the characteristic
tools used in these operations are presented.
These introductory notes are then followed by practical examples of the workpiece,
tool and workpiece-tool movement settings. Particularly effective graphic animations
are used in this sequence.
The audiovisual unit then focuses on, and illustrates, the practical activities
of the operator in the machining of a workpiece requiring, in addition to the
known basic machining operations, which are briefly recalled here, the execution
of chamfers, fillets, grooves and knurls.
The unit also includes a section of exercises in the construction of washers,
combining operations of straight turning, drilling, blanking and creation of
chamfers.
The unit concludes with a summary of the most significant operations used in
the execution of grooves, chamfers, fillets and knurls.
