This video cassette, which is the first in a series devoted to the universal milling
machine, presents the typical uses of this machine, which is not only widely used
in many industries and mechanical engineering workshops, but also in the vast
majority of technical schools and colleges.
The particular aim of this video cassette is to provide trainees with a knowledge
of the preliminary operations to be performed on the milling machine before starting
machining operations , as well as of the position and ways of controlling the
main machine components.
The machine shows trainees how to put the cutter spindle into operation; how to
select and drive the three worktable movement axes, in both rapid and work travel;
how to prepare the coolant and distribute it on the workpiece; how to mount the
vertical headstock and horizontal cutter arbor on the milling machine.
The video unit then presents the most commonly used systems for clamping workpieces
and milling cutters on the machine and a number of basic standard practices are
illustrated regarding work safety and the various protection components with which
a milling machine is equipped.
