The video cassette contains a series of considerations regarding the guidelines to be followed in choosing welding and cutting methods on the basis of criteria relating to productivity, feasibility, difficulty of execution and weld quality.
AIM. To provide users with all those basic elements which may serve as guidelines enabling them to choose the optimal welding or cutting method, when faced with an actual, practical work situation and assuming given types of equipment are available. TOPICS The video cassette gives an initial brief overview of the main welding and cutting techniques used today in industry, explaining the characteristic work situations for each.
A series of parallel comparisons are then made between the various techniques, analyzing their suitability or otherwise for each type of metal, the thickness of the welds, the various work positions, productivity and costs, ease or complexity of use, quality and characteristics of the welds required.
The conclusions emerging from these comparisons serve as practical guidelines in solving a number of actual "work cases" specially designed and proposed as exercises in the choice of the most suitable method.
