The audiovisual unit presents the method of execution of this welding procedure together with a number of practical examples of its application.

AIM. After studying the unit, trainees will be in a position to define this welding procedure, to choose the most suitable filler materials and deoxidier, and to perform brazing operations with the oxyacetylene or oxypropane flame on various different types of joints.

TOPICS.The unit begins by presenting the brazing sets needed for the execution of brazing operations, which are basically the same as those used in oxyacetylene welding. It then goes on to deal with the principle and mechanism of the brazing of homogeneous or heterogeneous materials using filler materials with lower melting points than the materials to be welded.
A number of criteria are presented governing the choice and use of filler rods and deoxidizing fluxes.
Examples of significant applications of this welding technique are given, along with the brazing technique used for joining plates to pipes , sleeves and flanges to tubes, and other significant applications.
